A house just isn’t a home without a comfortable place to kick your feet up. Wouldn’t you agree? This has been my theme while decorating each room of our house. So when it came to finding a chair for the little nook in our family room, I wanted something fun and relaxing and cheap. I found the chair online at Urban Outfitters and the pouf from Ross. The side shelf is a DIY project using leftover wood and metal brackets I swipe from my dad’s workshop. I also swiped the painted stain from his shop and the blue paint was leftover from my restyled bar cart.
I filled the shelf up with goodies I already had in the house… traveler’s clock of my Gran’s, books from my childhood & college years, cotton & feathers leftover from a floral arrangement, and picture frames of scrapbook paper & a free printable.
I’ve always wanted one of those hanging chairs! Seems like a fun place to read!

That chair is so cool! I love the way that you decorated–when I first clicked over, I thought that these were inspiration pictures, not actual pictures of your house! I also remember reading Mufaro’s Daughters in school and what a beautiful story it was.

That is a cute idea! Adding a cushion would be nice for comfort and add more decor, too! If I did this, I doubt I would know for sure it was hooked into a beam and it would come down on me.
