A fellow blogger, Stephanie, asks me in December if I would check out an e-book she was releasing which focused on goal setting. The eBook is title For A Year of Magic… {awesome title, right?}. So last month, I received a sneak peak at the January issue of For A Year of Magic. January’s workbook is a solution-focus, strength-based approach to mapping out your goals and working towards accomplishing them. It covers topics on identifying obstacles and values, setting SMART goals, and developing a plan of action for the upcoming months. For instance, when tracking my obstacles for writing my dissertation my main obstacle was time-management. To be honest, I find doing research boring so I would often find myself getting side tracked when critiquing articles. Why, because I value having fun and doing artsy creative things. So my solution (a.k.a action plan) is to make the research process more creative with colored paper, highlighters, stickers, etc. Sounds simple here but it is more involved than that.
