Once Upon A Time, I Needed A Craft Room
There are two sad moments in a woman’s life: 1) outgrowing Twilight, 2) having to admit you have a Twilight room. Or should I say had a Twilight room because it is no more. Now it is a bright and colorful craft room with a space for sewing, paper crafting, and lounging around. And I couldn’t be happier with the end results. But first, I have to tell the story from the beginning. It all started with my crafting supplies taking over the kitchen and dinning room. It was bad y’all. Plus our first floor is open so one messy space makes the whole floor look dirty. Now you know I don’t believe in clutter. Repeat after me: clutter is bad for me, both physically and mentally.
So I Turned An Old Bedroom Into A Craft Room
This space has been a long time coming. It started as a reading room with a Twilight theme. I admit it, I was one of those people. But, after damaging the dinning room table, I realized that I needed a new space to craft. My first thought was to convert the garage. But that idea was quickly shot down by the mister. He is one of those people who actually believe the garage should be used to park our cars (crazy, right?). So that only left two options: our guest room or the Twilight room.
I started the makeover with doing the floors. So my dad and I ripped out the old carpet and laid down laminate floors. I chose laminate because it was the cheapest option available and I only had a $200 budget for the floors. This was my least favorite project ever. I never want to lay floors again. My knees and butt ached for days.
Since it’s a craft room, I wanted the furnishing and artworks to be handmade or DIY projects. For the most part, the color scheme is shades of purples, pinks, blues, and gold. Since I was using bright colors, I kept the walls a cool light gray and the furniture white. This helped in toning the room down. My favorite projects are the peg board, the gallery wall, and the Louis chair makeover.
And I Crafted Happily Ever After. I bet you’re wondering where is the before picture? You have to watch the video to see the before.
My Challenge To You

That’s a good plan, Rachel. If we ever move I’m hoping for a bigger space. I’m greedy 🙂

I live in a studio so there’s no space to make a special corner. I wish I were as handy as you.
Tranae says
Thanks Mai. You can do it. Studio living sounds like fun. I wish I had a studio in the city to avoid the M-F commute.
