I remember when I was in high school and I was venting to my mom about how much I hated this girl (of course a boy was involved). Anyway… My mom told me to “kill her with kindness”. So naturally, my response was more or less on the lines of “why would I be kind to someone I don’t like.” Seemed like a reasonable response at the time but when I look back now I finally understand what she meant.
In life, there will always be someone who talks bad about you or wishes to see you fail. However, we accomplish nothing when we fight fire with fire. Instead, try to replace your negative words for your enemies and haters with a kind prayer and as a result they just might become your allies.
Stay FAB!

I 100% agree with that quote and your mom! I also wouldn’t have understood something like that in high school, but I get it now too!

I love this quote and it sounds like our mothers are alike. I cannot even tell you how many times I’ve heard “kill them with kindness” while growing up…and still sometimes now haha Such good advice though!

Mom’s give the best advice, even when we don’t want to hear it. I’m still on the struggle bus when it comes to this at times but I’m trying.

Definitely one of my favorite MLK quotes! It is so true. It only hurts yourself to continue hating someone anyway…

I agree. It takes way more energy to hate than love.

This is one of my favorite quotes. There are just some people in this world that are here to teach us to be kind and compassionate. I try to be grateful for those people but it is easier said than done!

Love this quote. I’ve been trying to replace negativity in my own life and always tell my kids that they never know what someone else is going through. Teaching them love, one small victory at a time. Stopping by from SITS Blogging.

This is a great post. We never know what others are experiencing that makes them treat people in not so nice ways. My son recently experienced another child being mean to him and other children at school. This child’s behavior was over the top nasty for such a young age. I told my son we should pray for the child. I do not know what is, or was, going on in that child’s home, but his behavior towards my son and the other children has improved. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Kindness is good.
