These four little words made me the biggest and worst type of liar of all. But it wasn’t these simple words that made me a villain. The words didn’t have much power. It was my actions that followed.
“I’ll do it later”
Those are the words I’ve said to myself so many times before. Go grocery shopping… I’ll do it later. Workout… I’ll do it later. Make time for myself…the same 4 words would come to mind.
These four little words made me the biggest and worst type of liar of all. But it wasn’t these simple words that made me a villain. The words didn’t have much power. It was my actions that followed. The fact that later never came made me a lair to myself.
These four words have the potential to ruin any dream, goal, or business.
I learned this lesson the hard way. Back in 2008, I shared the idea of starting my own event design business with excitement and passion. I received training in floral design, I had business cards printed up, I got a business license, a stylish website, and even booked and designed a couple of events. But when it came to actively marketing my business beyond people in my immediate circle, there was no follow through. Some of my procrastination was rooted in fear. I was so focused on finding the perfect marketing plan that I ended up doing nothing. The other reason was contentment. I wasn’t hungry enough to make big things happen for this business. I was content and secure with my job working for someone else. And the end result was … nothing became of my event design business.
What will you do to overcome procrastination?
When it comes to being successful, we all have the same 24 hours a day to work on the things we want to achieve. Whatever those things may be we must work to bring our dreams into reality. Think of the one thing you dream about. The one thing you want more than anything. What action(s) can you take right now to make things happen? Leave a comment below.

I don’t seem to find myself in procrastination state since I’m very busy with work 1. work 2, workout, cooking, and sleeping. Is that lucky?
Tranae says
That’s a busy schedule you have there. As long as your have a good balance of thing, I think you’re extremely lucky.

Funny?! It sounds like you put this category together specifically for me!!! lol I have been saying that this is something that I would love to do…just not now. Or, “I’ll do it later”! lol
Tranae says
LOL. I have psychic powers. 🙂
But now that you know procrastination is an issue I challenge you to actively work on it.

Procrastination is the theme for my life! “I’ll do it when I feel like it!” That’s what I keep telling myself!
Kristin Knudsen says
I love to procrastinate! But, I also love to do something immediately following me saying to myself “it’s time!!!”

Melissa S says
I procrastinate mostly when a task just seems too big. The only thing that works for me in these situations is braking up whatever task it is into the smallest chunks possible.

I know we are all guilty of this. I would say instead of doing it later, doing it now or if you cannot, have a timer go off in 30 minutes to do said chore.
