Beginnings are always full of excitement.
It’s hopeful, bright, and pure. Whether it’s the start of a relationship, idea, learning opportunity, or even a new crafting project, the beginnings are usually optimistic.
Then doubt creeps in.
You begin to wonder if you’re enough. You question your plans. You distrust yourself and your confidence struggles. This is exactly how I felt when I started sharing my crafting projects on this blog. And this was exactly how I felt when I submitted my projects to big name sites like Apartment Therapy and DIY Lifestyle Magazine or even when I post to some link ups.

Embracing vulnerability isn’t easy
Putting yourself out there is hard. There’s nothing easy about it. It takes courage, faith, and strength. But you know what is worst… NOT TRYING. When we open our hearts and share our creativity, we expose ourselves to the criticism of others. However, when we embrace vulnerability, we also open our lives to innovation and growth.
There will be failures but there will also be wins. I’ve been turned down for campaigns and features and I’ve also had the opportunity to work with some awesome companies and people. I’ve created some really fabulous projects and I’ve created some hot ass messes. But regardless of my failures or successes, I keep putting myself out there because I love making things and I want to be an inspiration to others.
You see, I believe that you all have something special to offer the world. We all have something that makes us unique and an asset to our communities. We all have creative potential that we must tap into. Yet, in order to achieve this potential, we must humble ourselves and embrace vulnerability.
Where To Begin?
By now, you’re probably thinking, okay Tranae, we get it. Vulnerability…embrace it. But how?
It starts with making the decision to learn more about yourself. Think about the one great thing you’ve always wanted to do and do it. It might be starting a new business, a blog/vlog, enrolling in college, going to an event, learning a new skill, going on a date. The possibilities are endless. You shouldn’t have any vulnerabilities any more about your artwork! It’s fantastic!!! You should submit your greeting cards to Hallmark!!! I love them!

I have vulnerabilities when it comes to my arts & crafts projects! I think everyone has some vulnerability or perfectionism when it comes to their own artwork! We can always see the “flaws” that we made…that nobody else seems to notice!
Embracing vulnerability is a tough one for me! I am always asking myself, “Is this good enough?” I know that I have some creative talent. And, people seem to really like my artwork…but, is it because it’s good, or because it’s from me?
UM? Well honestly this is something I avoid at all costs because every time I let anyone in something really bad always happens. I have tried many times and I give up.
